Summer Camp
Camp Daggett offers eight one-week coed camping sessions starting
in mid-June and ending in mid-August. Campers range in age
from 7 through 14 years. They are housed in rustic cabins
designed for 10 campers and two staff members. The program
answers a child's search for adventure in an environment that
is upbeat and wholesome.
The summer
program develops a feeling of acceptance, respect and courage
that campers can take home with them. Camping provides an
environment which enables children to live, learn and develop
skills that are useful at any age. Activities include:
- Adventure
ropes courses
- Archery
- Group
sports and games
- Sailing,
swimming, canoeing and fishing
- Arts
and crafts
- Nature
study, hikes, camp fires and camp outs.
Appetites
are satisfied with wholesome, family style meals served in
beautiful Mac Hall,a picturesque log dining room overlooking
Walloon Lake.
A full-time
health director is on call 24 hours a day.
Camp Daggett
operates as a nonprofit, independent organization with no
religious or governmental affiliations. The Board of Trustees,
Camp Daggett's governing body, maintains a fund to cover fees
for underprivileged children. All children are offered an opportunity to attend Camp Daggett regardless of their financial situation.
Camp Daggett
not only provides a service to the community by offering low
cost camping, but also hosts out-of-county campers and provides
educational programs to children during the school year.
Licensed
by the State of Michigan, Camp Daggett makes safety and quality
top priorities.
